Five Minute Garage Curb Appeal Upgrade Under $50

Have you been looking for ways to add some curb appeal to your house but need to do it on the cheap ? Perhaps you can upgrade your garage door?

I recently purchased a cookie-cutter home from a local builder in a new development.  My new neighborhood is adorable with it’s perfectly coordinated houses. You know the ones.  They’re the same but not-the-same thanks to their various facade and color choices.

I had the home built on what looked like a pretty big lot. Once the house was built, I realized to my great disappointment that neither my front yard or my driveway were as big as I had envisioned. So much for my landscape ideas. It looked like I would not be able to fit the trees and items that I initially planned for and, I was still in desperate need of some curb appeal.

Then, there was that other pesky problem. Budget! Uhg! Why is it always about money? So, off I went to my local big box store (Lowe’s in this case) in search of some quick, cheap curb appeal. Wouldn’t you know it? I found it!

Hanging on an end cap, I found a set of these bad boys. They are magnets made to resemble hardware. You just stick them on your metal garage door and PRESTO! The whole process took five minutes. The hardest part was cutting through the plastic packaging. I paid a total of $42.78, Florida taxes included.

I took this picture and completed this post six months after putting them up just to be sure they would hold up. They still look great. They haven’t move. They’ve handled Florida’s tropical weather including windy thunderstorms. And now, the rest of my neighbors have caught on to my scheme and upgraded their garage doors. Humpf.  Now, on to the next project!
